4Webcams App Rejected

Apple rejected my 4Webcams app!

Dear Kay,

Thank you for submitting 4Webcams to the App Store. We’ve reviewed your application and determined that we cannot post this version of your iPad application to the App Store. Applications must adhere to the iPad Human Interface Guidelines as outlined in the iPhone Developer Program License Agreement section 3.3.7.

The iPad Human Interface Guidelines state that an iPad application should be able to run in all orientations. 4Webcams is only supporting one variant of the portrait orientation. While we understand there are certain applications that need to run in the portrait orientation, it would be appropriate to support both variants of this orientation in your application.

Please note that supporting all four orientations, each with unique launch images, provides the best user experience and is recommended.

Please review the Aim to Support All Orientations section of the iPad’s Human Interface Guideline here:

In order for your application to be reconsidered for the App Store, please resolve this issue and upload your new binary to iTunes Connect.

And they are right. I will build a new binary for iPhone and iPad.

4Webcams Update and 9Webcams Release imminent

A few days ago i submitted an updated version of the 4Webcams iPhone application and the new app 9Webcams to the Apple app store. They are both in review and should be released pretty soon (hopefully). 9Webcams is basically the same application as 4Webcams, it just allows users to add 5 more webcam links. In both applications i have rewritten the image loading code to make it much faster than it used to be in earlier versions of 4Webcams. I have also removed the Slideshow feature, since it was poorly implemented and i already have something else in mind as replacement. Coming soon! Both applications work seemlessly on iPhone / iPod touch as well as on the iPad. For the iPad version i have also adjusted the interface. Universal Apps as Apple defines it. Preview images can be looked at in the referring iTunes Store.

Please let me know, what you would like to see implemented in the webcam apps. Have fun with them!
